Gospel Music Hall of Famer Kurt Kaiser will help kick off the fifth annual Christian Writers Workshop.

I’m going to be speaking at the Christian Writer’s Workshop tomorrow at 6:00PM in rooms 210-211 of First Baptist Church of Woodway in Waco, Texas! Stop by to learn about self-publishing and marketing for authors in today’s crazy literary market.

From the Waco Tribune:

Gospel Music Hall of Famer Kurt Kaiser and youth minister/writer Tricia Patterson will talk about their work — and sing a little, too — in a Saturday morning kickoff to the fifth annual Christian Writers Workshop held at First Baptist Church of Woodway, 13000 Woodway Drive.

Kaiser, creator of such beloved contemporary Christian songs as “Pass It On” and “Oh How He Loves You and Me,” will talk about the art of lyric writing, illustrating his remarks with selections on the piano. Patterson, girls’ minister and a youth ministry association at FBC Woodway, will speak on writing for teenagers, particularly through blogs and curriculum. She and Kaiser will perform together during the morning workshop, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is $20, $5 for students. Those wishing to register can contact the church at 772-9696 or go online at www.fbcwoodway.org/cww.

The morning workshop launches an eight-week series of free writing workshops from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the church, each led by a different writer and covering multiple genres and writing issues. Workshop organizer Reita Hawthorne expects more than 100 people to attend the Saturday session, with weekly attendance of approximately 50 writers and others interested in writing from across Central Texas.

Continuing this year are critique groups that will provide participants with comments and advice on works-in-progress.
